Kudremukha Trek - one of the best trek routes in Karnataka. Kudremukha Peak located in Chikmangalur District is 1894m above sea level. Nearest town is Kalasa (to reach from Bengaluru) Only 50 pax are allowed per day Choose weekday Monday to Thursday if you want to get lost in nature. (Needs confirmation From January forest entry closed for 3-4months). No plastic is allowed with the national park. Bengaluru to Kalasa - KSRTC BUS (Govt) https://m.ksrtc.in/oprs-mobile/?OS=MBSR Kalasa to Balagal - local bus or auto Balagal to Forest check post take Jeep Raid ( many are available at Balagal) Around 250rs per head to and fro Keep Govt ID xerox ( Passport xerox copy front and last page for Foreigners) to be submitted to forest office to take permit to enter the Kudremukha Forest Range. There will be nominal Forest entry fee and guide fee. (Forest entry fee may be higher for foreigners) The trek is around 10 km to peak. It can be divided into 6 phase Phase 1 - Slight uphill to reach a tree with the bench ~10min Phase 2 - Plateau with minimal uphill and down hill will be crossing 7 streams (refill water bottle in 7th stream) to reach Lobo House ~ 1hr 20min Phase 3- Steep segment around 50 to 70 degree elevation to reach Ontti Mara ~ 30 min Phase 4 - Uphill trek crossing 3 streams Don’t forget to refill water bottle in 3rd stream ~ 1hr Phase 5 - last Steep segment of the trek around 50 to 70 degree elevation ~30 min Phase 6 - Run to the peak is Uphill, Don’t forget to look to your for old abandoned building built by British. Refill your water bottle in the last steam before reaching peak. ~30 min. You have reached Heaven. Located In Chikmangalur District of Karnataka. From Bengaluru-Hassan-Belur-Mudigere-Kotegehara-Kelagur-Sunkasale-Kalabhyraveshwara Temple By bus take KSRTC Sleeper bus from Bengaluru to Horanadu, get down at Sunkasale. Water and food not available at peak. Get steel Tiffin box, pack food at Sunkasale at hotel run by Ramanna in front of bus stop. From Kalabhyraveshwara Temple 5 min walk will reach Forest check post. Show your ID take permission from forest officers. Ticket cost is 250 RS per head. For students with student ID it’s 125 RS. On the way go to RANI JHARI View point. 1 hour trek you will reach the Peak. And go around to adjacent hill peaks. The view is mesmerising. Don’t litter the hills.
